Some sad news...

It has recently come to my attention that on June 2, 2009, bestselling fantasy author David Eddings passed away of natural causes at the age of 78. Eddings, author of the Belgariad and Malloreon novels, was born on July 7, 1931 in Spokane, Washington and raised in the Puget Sound area north of Seattle. According to his brother Dennis, in his final months David was working on a manuscript very different from any of his prior works.
This news hit me particularly hard since for the past few weeks I've been rereading the Belgariad series courtesy of Audible.com, and over the last week or so had become involved in a highly heated but enjoyable discussion with some folks on Youtube about casting for a series of films based on these excellent novels, if such a project were ever undertaken. Since Eddings' manuscripts will go to his old college, Rede College in Portland Oregon, and since Eddings apparently never gave film rights for any of his novels, this was merely speculation on who might be good in what role. Needless to say, David will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace David! May the lord surround you with his angels and may he give you a special place in Heaven.
